OCTOBER 2019

Monday, October 7. BRIDGE.
Bridge Lunch. SOLD OUT.

Saturday, October 12 at 10.30am to 4pm. CRAFT FAIR.
​
Our fair will feature a variety of handmade crafts including woodcraft, paintings, photography, jewellery, ceramics, cards and gifts. Also an array of local home produce, from jams and chutneys to biscuits and cakes. Try your luck at the fabulous Tombola stall. The £2 entry includes tea or coffee.

Sunday, October 13 at 3pm. ORGAN CONCERT.
Pieces by J S Bach, Haydn, Ketèlbey, Elgar, Cockroft and Lefébure-Wély played by Kirklees Borough Organist Gordon Stewart.
Gordon's previous concerts at Farnley, punctuated by hilarious anecdotes, have proved hugely popular. This afternoon event will be followed by tea and cakes. Tickets on the door: £5.

Friday, October 18 at 7pm. FAMILY QUIZ.

Eyes down and sharpen your wits for this evening of cunning questions for all the family. The £20 per table entry fee includes a hot dog supper. Phone 01484 661135 to book a table. 

NOVEMBER 2019

Saturday, November 9 at 7.30pm. SWING BAND CONCERT.
Tap your feet and swing your hips to the beat of the Manhattan Sound Swing Band. 7pm for 7.30. Tickets £15, including a glass of wine, available on the door.

Wednesday, November 20 at 6.30 for 7pm. CHRISTMAS FLOWERS.

Celebrated florist Karen Longbottom, of Finishing Touches in Outlane, will talk about and demonstrate ideas for Christmas.

DECEMBER 2019

Thursday, Friday, December 5 & 6 at 7.30. JAMES MASON FILMS
Screenings of the documentary Home James which shows actor James Mason rediscovering his home town of Huddersfield will be shown on successive evenings. After refreshments, Desert Fox will be shown. This 1951 biographical war film stars Mason as Field Marshal Erwin Rommel.

Sunday, December 15 at 11am. CAROL SERVICE
For the third year running, we will be joined by the Farnley Singers, a group of 15 experienced choral musicians who will lead the singing at our popular Festival Lessons and Carols. Carols by the choir include Harold Darke's lovely setting of In the Bleak Midwinter. There will also familiar carols for the congregation. Donations for the appeal fund will be welcomed at this service.

Thursday, December 19 at 6pm. CAROL SINGING.

Join us in church for mulled wine to fortify you for an evening of carol singing around the village. Voices high or low, soft or loud are very welcome to join us.

Our last family quiz was such a success, we are holding another. The cost per table is £20 and refreshments will include pizza, pop, wine and beer.

Say it with Flowers will be a floral celebration of a variety of hobbies. Enjoy the experience of our church filled with imaginative arrangements. It promises to be a magnificent event, so please make a date in your diaries.

Illustrated talk by Linda Alderson on her climbing adventures. Tickets at £5 include refreshments.
