The year five leavers with the Rev Felicity Cowling-Green, left, and assistant head teacher, Mr Mosley, right.
Pupils from Farnley Tyas CE First School came to church today to say goodbye to the year five leavers and to two teachers, Mrs Kitchen and Mrs Townsend.
The celebration of the end of the school year was also the first time the whole school has been together in a while.
The year fives, who are in their final week, tied some gift tags to the bush in the picture. They had written on them all the gifts they’ve grown in that they want to continue to grow in as they move to their next school.
Some flames were lit to remind us of the way God has always shown up in history to be with God’s people.
God sent Moses a burning bush, the Israelites a pillar of fire in the desert and in the picture can be seen the Easter candle, the reminder that in Jesus we have a fire that never goes out. He is with us even as we go through big life changes.
Songs were sung, the year fives acted a drama about a school reunion when they are old and looking back at the pandemic, the year fours prayed for the leavers, and the leavers received books and will receive a Bible.
The leavers and those remaining at Farnley school finished by blessing one another.
