Illuminated bottles, hand-made cards, landscape photographs, decorations, etchings, ceramics, jewellery and lace. Just some of the items on display at the colourful Craft Fair in Farnley Tyas Church today.

The standard of work from the 16 stallholders was high – as was the enthusiasm shown for it by those who came into church soon after the doors opened at 10am.

When the doors closed at 4pm, more than 120 visitors had passed through the fair, many of whom expressed their delight at the nature and quality of the event.

Home-made preserves, chutneys, biscuits and cakes only added to the day's appeal. And thanks must go to the organisers, ticket-sellers, helpers from the church and the community group, and, not least, the brilliant caterers who put on a fine, Farnley-style spread.

Financially, it was a success. The net contribution towards our Church Appeal was £1,200. Treasurer, Brian Mallinson says: "Fantastic. Well done to everyone for their hard work and generosity."
